Rowad Modern Engineering Signs Strategic Agreement with the Egyptian National Railways Authority to Deliver National Rail and Logistics Projects

Rowad Modern Engineering, a subsidiary of Elsewedy Electric Group, has signed a strategic agreement with the Egyptian National Railways Authority as part of a consortium of specialized companies. The agreement covers the execution of works under major national projects in the railway and logistics transport sector.
The contract signing was witnessed by H.E. Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Transport. The contract was signed by Eng. Mohamed Amer, Chairman of the Egyptian National Railways Authority; Eng. Ramy Salah, Managing Director of Alstom Egypt; and Eng. Mohamed Mahlab, CEO of Rowad Modern Engineering.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Pascal Furth, Head of the Economic Section at the French Embassy in Cairo; Eng. Wagdy Radwan, Deputy Minister of Transport for Railway Affairs and the National Authority for Tunnels; Martin Vaujour, Alstom President for Africa, Middle East and Central Asia Region (AMECA); and Eng. Ahmed Elsewedy, CEO and Managing Director of Elsewedy Electric.
The agreement comes as part of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to develop its multi-modal transport system and enhance the role of railways in freight movement and trade. It also falls within infrastructure programs supported by leading international development finance institutions, including the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), reflecting the strategic importance of these projects and their alignment with international standards of execution, quality, safety, and sustainability.
This agreement supports the efficiency of national supply chains and strengthens the competitiveness of Egypt’s logistics infrastructure through projects designed to improve connectivity between production zones, dry ports, trade centers, and seaports.
Rowad Modern Engineering will participate within the Alstom led consortium in delivering integrated works under an EPC model, through three main project components:
Project 1: Cairo–Alexandria Corridor, LOT 1
Turnkey construction of the new railway link dedicated to supporting logistics and trade movement. Greenfield Link (70 km) and Marazik-Wahat (67 km) Section Upgrade – Track Upgrade and Signaling Modernization;
Project 2: Cairo–Alexandria Corridor, LOT 3
Full delivery of Al-Ittihad–Al-Nahda corridor 96Km, including core railway works, major civil infrastructure packages, and integrated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
Project 3: Robeiky–10th of Ramadan–Belbeis Railway Link
Establishing and installing rails and switches and developing the signaling and communication system in the distance from AL ROBIEKEY station to 10th OF RAMADAN to BELBEIS station, in addition to line of DRY PORT connection. Together, these projects contribute to a broader transformation of Egypt’s transport ecosystem, reducing pressure on road networks and advancing the long-term operational performance of the country’s freight and trade infrastructure.
