Tatweer Misr Hosts Egypt’s First Shore Fishing Tournament at IL Monte Galala, Championing ESG and Sustainability
Under the Patronage of the Ministries of Youth & Sports and Environment

In a landmark event that highlights its continued commitment to sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, Tatweer Misr – one of Egypt’s leading real estate developers – hosted the country’s first-ever shore fishing championship at its flagship project, IL Monte Galala, Ain Sokhna.
Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Environment, the championship embodies Tatweer Misr’s comprehensive strategy to embed environmental and sporting initiatives within its project operations. It also represents a key part of the company’s vision to transform IL Monte Galala into a vibrant, year-round destination that seamlessly blends nature, community, and culture, anchored by innovation and sustainability.
The event was organized in collaboration with Ethical Anglers, a company specializing in large-scale marine sporting events and International Game Fish Association (IGFA), and in partnership with the Egyptian Sport Fishing Federation. It welcomed over 50 amateur and professional anglers from across Egypt and various Arab countries in a unique, first-of-its-kind sustainable fishing competition in the region.
Through this initiative, Tatweer Misr aims to promote environmental awareness and emphasize the importance of responsible fishing practices and marine conservation, aligning with Egypt’s national efforts to support eco-tourism and advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
IL Monte Galala’s scenic shoreline served as a dynamic backdrop for the championship, offering an immersive experience for participants and visitors alike. The event attracted a strong media and public presence, creating an atmosphere that celebrated both the sport and Egypt’s rich natural heritage.
Hosting this championship at IL Monte Galala aligns with Tatweer Misr’s long-term vision to create Sustainable & smart urban communities, where sustainable design, advanced infrastructure, and social impact come together to shape a new standard in real estate development.
This tournament also builds on Egypt’s growing presence in the marine sports arena. Recent milestones include the Gouna International Fishing Tournament, held earlier this year with participation from nine countries across three continents, and the annual Egypt Cup Fishing Tournament, which takes place every October.
Notably, Ethical Anglers – the event’s organizing partner – has previously organized the Jebel Sifah International Fishing Tournament in Oman and is currently preparing to launch the Fishing World Cup, set to take place in Egypt for the first time in 2028. This further reinforces Egypt’s rising profile as a regional hub for environmentally focused sporting events.
Through this initiative, Tatweer Misr reaffirms its role as a key private sector partner in supporting national development objectives, while continuing to create destinations that not only meet global real estate standards but also contribute meaningfully to the environment, community well-being, and economic growth.
